Trump may well withstand impeachment if 17 GOP senators fail to act but impeachment has no penalty clause and the Senate may choose to ban Trump from holding further office.

Totally independent of this is the criminal justice system where Trump may now be tried for crimes committed during his presidency.  Without Barr to try to defending him, as in the past through wildly misinterpreting legal precedents, Trump now faces a criminal investigation that can culminate in an arrest and trial.
